New, clearer signage is hopefully helping to keep dogs out of areas where our coastal native birds are residing on Harbourview Orangahina Park.
The updated Auckland Council dog access signage was installed in the park earlier this year. The suite of signage updated across the site, clearly shows dog walkers where off-leash dog walking is allowed, and where dogs need to be on a leash. If the sign says No Dogs, it is a wildlife area and off limits to dog walkers.
In the map of the signage above, yellow dots indicate the dog access signs, while the orange dots indicate wild areas, with No Dogs signs. The map on the above right shows the extent of the coastal native bird nesting area, in orange.
